Questions & answers
The questions people ask most often. If yours isn't here, the guides cover each task step by step and the glossary defines every term.
Buying and selling
- How do I sell my tokens? Can I sell sVALUES?
- You can't sell sVALUES directly — it has to become $VALUES first. Unstake on the Stake page, then sell on the Swap page. The whole chain is sVALUES → $VALUES → USDT0 → your exchange, and each arrow is one transaction.
- Can I exchange $VALUES for tokens other than USDT0?
- Not in the app. Our pool trades one pair, $VALUES against USDT0. To buy or sell against POL, USDC, WBTC or WETH, use the Uniswap link on the Swap page — that routes through the wider market.
- Can I send $VALUES to a friend?
- Yes. Use the Send page in the app, or send it from your wallet like any other token. Both of you need to be on Polygon, and they'll need to add the token to see it.
- Why did my swap fail?
- Most often because the price moved and the result would have fallen below the minimum shown before you confirmed. The swap is cancelled rather than filled at a worse price. Try again, or try a smaller amount. The other common cause is having no POL for the network fee.
Staking and APY
- Does the APY change? What causes it?
- It changes constantly, and usually without anyone touching anything. The daily reward is a fixed fraction of total supply, but it's shared among everyone staking — so when more people stake, the same reward divides further and the APY falls. When people unstake, it rises. Governance can also adjust the reward rate, and that shows in the activity log.
- Where do I find the current APY?
- On the Portfolio page in the app. It's an estimate from today's numbers, not a promise.
- Can I earn if I only hold $VALUES?
- No. Rewards go to staked tokens only. Holding $VALUES gives you exposure to the basket, but the balance won't grow until you stake it.
- If I have $VALUES, should I stake them?
- That's your decision and we can't advise on it. What we can tell you plainly: staked tokens earn the daily reward, unstaked ones don't, and unstaking has no waiting period. Staking does not remove market risk — the value of what you hold can still fall.
- What is compounding?
- Each day's reward is calculated on your new, larger balance rather than your original one. That's why a rate of roughly 0.2% a day works out to well over 100% across a year rather than around 73%.
Wallets and tokens
- How do I connect my wallet?
- Press Connect wallet at the top right of any app page and approve it in your wallet. On a phone you'll be handed to the wallet app and must return to the browser yourself — most wallets don't switch back, and the connection is usually already done by the time you get there. The guides walk through every step.
- Can I only use MetaMask?
- No. Any Polygon wallet works — Token Pocket, Rabby, Trust, Coinbase Wallet and the rest. We write our guides against MetaMask because it's the most common, and the steps are essentially the same everywhere; only the button positions differ.
- How do I add $VALUES or sVALUES to my wallet?
- Import the token by its contract address. Both addresses are listed at the bottom of the guides page, along with the steps. Adding one does not add the other — they're separate entries.
- My balance appears and disappears in MetaMask. Is something wrong?
- No, and nothing is lost. Wallets only display tokens they've been told to watch, and that setting can reset. Add the token again with its contract address; your balance was on the chain the entire time.
- What's the difference between $VALUES and sVALUES?
- $VALUES is the free, spendable form — you can send, swap or stake it. sVALUES is the same value while staked, and its balance grows by itself every day. You can't spend sVALUES until you unstake it back to $VALUES.
The index and the supply
- If BTC or another asset in the index rises, does $VALUES rise too?
- That's the intent: $VALUES tracks a basket, so its value follows the basket's assets in the proportions the index sets. It is not a one-to-one link with any single asset, and a rise in one holding can be offset by falls in others.
- Can total supply ever exceed 10,000,000?
- The supply is capped at 10,000,000 $VALUES, and minting is controlled by the treasury Safe, which moves only by governance decision. Any change to that cap would itself have to be proposed and voted on in the open.
- Is Values DAO a bank?
- No. It is not a bank, funds and returns are not guaranteed, and nobody holds your tokens but you. The value of $VALUES can fall, and you may lose some or all of what you commit. The full disclosure sets this out properly.
Governance
- What is Vote? When can I vote, and can I propose something?
- Governance is how the DAO decides: members propose, discuss and vote, and the result is recorded on-chain. Voting weight follows staked holdings, so you take part by staking. Proposals and voting are being rolled out in the app — the Vote page is where they'll appear.
- Who owns Values DAO, and where is it registered?
- Values DAO is community-owned: the token holders govern it, and the treasury moves only by multi-signature approval under governance decisions. For the formal registration details, please ask in the community channel — we'd rather point you at an authoritative answer than approximate one here.
